Heartless by Elsie Silver a Single Dad Grumpy Sunshine Nanny Romance
Heartless is a small-town cowboy romance filled with tension, humor, and emotional depth. When a grumpy single father rancher ends up spending more time with his lively nanny, the lines between professional and personal quickly blur. Packed with witty banter, slow-burn chemistry, and heartfelt family moments, the story delivers a swoony romance about healing, trust, and unexpectedly finding love where you least expect it.
Heartless was honestly everything I want in a grumpy sunshine romance. Cade is the definition of a broody, emotionally constipated cowboy single dad, and watching Red completely bulldoze her way through all his walls was so entertaining. Their chemistry felt effortless from the start, especially because Red refuses to let his grumpy attitude intimidate her. She gives his attitude right back to him in the funniest ways, and their banter carried so much of the book for me.
Red absolutely stole the show. Her humor, confidence, and chaotic energy balanced Cade’s seriousness perfectly. She brought so much life into the ranch and into his daughter’s world that you could slowly see Cade softening without even realizing it himself. The nanny romance trope worked so well because their relationship developed naturally through everyday moments, and the single dad aspect added a really emotional layer to the story. Seeing Cade trying to be a good father while also fighting his feelings made him even more lovable.
The humor in this book was one of my favorite parts. Red’s commentary and the way she constantly challenged Cade made me laugh so many times, but the story still managed to hit emotionally when it needed to. It had the perfect balance of spicy, heartfelt, funny, and comforting. If you love grumpy cowboys falling painfully hard for sunshine heroines who completely wreck their peace in the best way, this book absolutely delivers.
